A brief biography of Phil Sawford

Phil was born in Loddington on the 26th June 1950 (In the Kettering Constituency)

EDUCATION:

1955 - 1962 Loddington C of E School (In the Kettering Constituency)

1962 -1966  Educated at Kettering Grammar School (In the Kettering Constituency)

1980 - 82  Ruskin College (Oxford)

1982 - 1985 The University of Leicester (BA Hons)

1971 Married to Rosemary (In the Kettering Constituency)

(two sons) (three Grandchildren). (All of them live in the Kettering Constituency)

EMPLOYMENT:

1966 started work as an apprentice carpenter in Moulton

Employed by engineering Company in Kettering 1971 -1974

Self employed (construction Industry) 1974 - 1977

British Steel Corporation,  Corby (1977 - 1980).

Full time education (1980 - 1985)

Wellingborough Training Partnership (1985 - 1997).

Former School Governor (Loatland Primary School, Havelock Infant & Montsaye)

1977 Elected to Desborough Town Councill (1977 - 1997) (In the Kettering Constituency)

1979 Member of Kettering Borough Council (1979 - 1983 & 1986 - 1997). (In the Kettering Constituency)

1991 Leader of the Kettering Borough Council 1991 - 1997 (In the Kettering Constituency)

1997 Member of Parliament for Kettering from May 1997 to May 2005.

April 2007 Selected to fight the Kettering seat at the next General Election
